Razorfish buys Amnesia

Avenue A / Razorfish, the largest interactive marketing services firm in the U.S. and an operating unit of aQuantive, Inc. (NASDAQ:AQNT - News), today announced the acquisition of Amnesia, a full-service, digital agency based in Australia.

The total purchase price, payable in cash, will be determined by an earnout arrangement based on profit contributions from Amnesia over the next three years and Amnesia's net asset value on July 24, 2006. A cash payment of $5 million (AU), or $3.7 million (US) was paid as upfront consideration on the earnout.

We're a little late on this one but congrats to the Amnesia team.
Audi TT's all round :)

Full article here

It'll be interesting to see how this changes the industry here in Australia as Amnesia have always flown under the radar and now with the big guys in the US to support them they should be able to move into a dominant position.

In other similar news: Hyro has aquired 51% of Fluoro which looks to now become the "official" creative arm of Hyro.

Myspace updates to Flash Player 9

Anyone logging into their myspace profile (and who doesn't 3 times a day) now will be promopted to update to Flash Player 9. Myspace have revamped their music and video players. I don't know if they have used any AS3 features

This is great news for an industry struggling to convince users to use Flash 8. If the myspace minimum is Flash 9, then certainly we can accept Flash 8 as an industry standard.

This is the first time I've been excited by something Myspace has done. Hugs all round.

A Little Bit Rude

laying_cable_bb.jpg

This site, A Little Bit Rude, works on so many levels I can't even begin. I prefer to say depositing into the Bank of Brown but dropping the kids of at the pool and laying cable always bring a smile to my face.

I wont spoil it too much but I even like how they have added the blog at the end. It makes for fasinating work conversation.

We also welcome two new editors to the ranks. Matt Cumming from M&C Saatchi in Australia and Eric Powell (our most vocal commentor) from Avenue A/Razorfish in the USA.

This will ensure a steady flow of new banners being posted.
